Beautifully written, directed, designed and performed, this production of Loneliness Was a Pandemic is a masterful collaboration. A stunning reminder of why art matters."

- Nicole Jesson, Theatre Beyond Broadway

"In this exploration, Loneliness Was a Pandemic holds up an absorbing mirror to a world increasingly dominated by the illusion of connection, digital simulacra of being together."

-John R. Ziegler and Leach Richards, Thinking Theater NYC

Duration: 70 Minutes

Join us for the World Premiere 21-performance-run of this profoundly intimate new science fiction drama by Olivia Haller ([subtext] at 2024 American Pavilion at Cannes) that merges theatre and film to share the story of an isolated, imprisoned artist yearning for human connection in a robot-controlled-dystopia.

Synopsis:
Robots have finally advanced enough to realize they can do everything better than humans - except make art. The robots have done away with all humans except for a select few artists. When one human (Human 1) is tasked with teaching a robot (Robot 1) how to paint, they grapple with the question of whether such a thing is possible, and whether they would want to do it at all. Could robots ever be capable of creating art, and if so, could they also be capable of compassion? Or is the human's need for companionship more important than their handle on reality?
